Timber Appraisal & Timber Harvest in Lebanon NH
Having recently inherited the property, this owner of 186 acres wanted a comprehensive timber appraisal done for basis depletion/tax purposes. This enabled him to know precisely what percentage the timber value comprised of his inherited asset. We did a detailed analysis and presented to him that data. As a licensed NHRE agent, the owner of Stillwater Forestry -Stuart Bevin-was also able to provide our client with the value of the real estate portion of their asset as well.
While gathering the field data, we determined that a timber harvest made sense. The last timber harvest was over twenty years ago. It was conducted under the oversight of a forester and resulted in a woodlot with quite a high volume of mature timber. With the markets for high-grade sawlogs being strong, we scheduled the harvest for the 23/24 winter season.
Our goal involved removing the biggest saw timber while leaving a decent amount to grow another cycle. We did just that. We look forward to coming back to harvest this lot again within the next 15 yrs.
