Project: Lempster, NH Timber Harvest
We were hired to put together a timber harvest on a 70 acre parcel - owned by a family. A timber harvest , twenty years prior, hadn’t gone well for them. In light of that, they had concerns and worries that were fully understandable. We assured them that by hiring us we would insure that their timber harvest, this time around, would turn out much better. We set out to do just that. Previous high grading had resulted in a woodlot filled with hardwood pulp, scattered white pine and pockets of spruce. We decided the best course of action, for the overall health of their forest, and to prevent future wind damage was to utilize a combination of patch cuts, strip cut with selective thinning in between. We then contracted with a locally based logging operator, who is positioned to efficiently harvest large volumes of pulpwood. He agreed to do the job - paying a competitive price on not only the pulpwood but the remaining species as well. From start to finish the harvest went extremely well. Upon completion, one family member stated “ it turned out better than I expected.” That was exactly what we wanted to hear. !
